It is about people who work for a living versus a system that keeps tilting toward the very top.While families in Wayne County and Webster balance groceries, heating bills, and gas just to get to work, a small group at the top keeps rewriting the rules to benefit themselves. They keep us arguing with each other so we stop asking why the deck is stacked against us. They use outrage to divide neighbors who actually want the same things: good schools, affordable healthcare, safe communities, and a fair shot for our kids. My parents believed deeply in hard work and personal responsibility. My father began as a barber and eventually opened his own shop. My mother worked long hours as a punch press operator. Their sacrifices taught me the value of perseverance and the dignity of work. I started school in Solvay, NY. After class, I would head to my father’s barbershop to shine shoes and sweep floors. That small shop was my first classroom. It taught me the importance of showing up, earning respect, and taking pride in a job well done.&nbsp;At age 18…just one month before graduation…I was forced to leave home. Instead of giving up, I went to work. I opened my own automotive repair shop (Lamanna’s Auto) while studying for my GED at Holy Family Church in Camillus, NY. That experience shaped me for life. During the day, I worked as a Quality Engineer at CR Manufacturing. I held two jobs because Chrysler provided the health benefits my young family relied on. That period gave me a deep respect for blue-collar workers and the sacrifices families make to get by. Over time, I worked my way up at New Process Gear (Chrysler Corp.) as an Engineering Development Technician, Quality Analyst, Quality Engineer, and later Manufacturing Engineer. When the plant was sold in 2009, I transferred to Chrysler’s facility in Trenton, Michigan. There, I served as a Tool Engineer and later Assembly Engineer for three engine platforms. After a year, I was promoted to Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Toledo Machining in Toledo, Ohio, and soon after to Corporate Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager, and finally to Strategic Planning Manager. In these roles, I traveled across the country and around the world, improving efficiency, standardizing processes, consolidating equipment, and supporting American jobs. After 34 years, I retired from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in 2018, overseeing hundred-million-dollar projects and programs.&nbsp;Throughout my career, I also served in leadership roles with several UAW locals, representing hundreds of engineering, clerical, and administrative professionals. I negotiated labor agreements at both local and national levels and served as a union steward, chairman, and ultimately president…standing up for workers and helping bridge the gap between labor, management, and government. I have also worked closely with local, state, and federal officials in Syracuse, Albany, and Washington, D.C., as a UAW C.A.P. chairman, advocating for economic policies that strengthen communities and protect American jobs.<img src="https://run.imgix.net/11568830-46fb-4139-9037-495a4b938223/132428f9-edaa-4f57-bdbb-ed78029145d2/c7c7f051-b7a0-49ca-926e-e7345058ba3c.webp?ixlib=js-3.8.0&amp;bri=0&amp;con=0&amp;sat=0&amp;high=0&amp;shad=0&amp;usm=0&amp;rect=0%2C0%2C4096%2C3072&amp;w=1500" alt="" caption="Joe at UAW negotiations" align="right" alignwidth="40" tiltdirection="left" variant="framed">Joe at UAW negotiationsPublic service has always been personal to me. As a volunteer firefighter, I have responded to calls alongside neighbors to protect lives and property. That experience reinforced my belief that strong communities are built by people willing to step up for one another.&nbsp;While working full‑time, I earned degrees in Engineering, Political Science, and a Master of Business Administration…education that deepened my belief in thoughtful planning, collaboration, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.Today, I remain active in civic life. I serve on the Williamson Town Planning Board, as Chairman of the Board of Assessment Review, and as an alternate member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. I am also the founder and president of Advanced Innovative Solutions, an engineering consulting firm focused on solving complex technical challenges. <h2>How New York’s Public Matching System Works</h2><h3>NYS Assembly Campaigns</h3>New York’s Public Campaign Finance Program is designed to amplify small, local donations.We are participating in the public matching program and we need 75 individual donations and a total of $4,000 to qualify for matching fund. <h3>In upstate New York, this has happened before...</h3>In the early 1800s, farmers, laborers, and canal workers were told the economy was not their concern. Decisions were made by powerful interests in Albany and New York City. Profits flowed one way. Risk flowed the other.<h4>But something changed when working people pushed back.</h4>Local farmers, merchants, and laborers pushed for public investment instead of private control. <img src="https://run.imgix.net/11568830-46fb-4139-9037-495a4b938223/1539bf44-5182-449b-af3a-50e74aaf9635/1539bf44-5182-449b-af3a-50e74aaf9635.jpg?ixlib=js-3.8.0&amp;bri=0&amp;con=0&amp;sat=0&amp;high=0&amp;shad=0&amp;usm=0&amp;rect=0%2C0%2C1622%2C1022&amp;w=1500" alt="" caption="" align="left" alignwidth="40" tiltdirection="left" variant="framed">The result was the&nbsp;Erie Canal, which ran directly through Wayne County towns like Palmyra and Lyons. It broke monopolies, lowered costs, and gave working people access to markets they had never had before.Later, the Finger Lakes became a center of reform movements that asked the same basic question in different ways. Who gets a voice? Who sets the rules? Who benefits from the system? From labor organizing to the push for broader civic participation, change here never came from the top handing it down. It came from neighbors insisting on fairness.When corporations grew so powerful they bent the rules in their favor, a New Yorker named Theodore Roosevelt&nbsp;took them on in the NYS Assembly. He believed concentrated power was a threat to democracy, whether it sat in government or in boardrooms. He used public authority to restore balance.That is the upstate I know.<h3>Not chaos. Not political division.</h3><h3>Every major step forward here came when ordinary people refused to accept a system that only worked for the few and insisted it work for the many.</h3>That moment always looks uncomfortable to those at the top.And it always feels overdue to everyone else.But that instinct is still right. And it is still necessary to Uplift Upstate!

Safety in towns and villages is a major concern for people across the political spectrum. Residents want effective public safety policies that protect communities but also respect rights. They want more resources for local law enforcement, clearer sentencing laws, and programs that reduce repeat crimes without overburdening local budgets.&nbsp;

In a largely rural district, people want state support for job creation, stronger rural economic development, and help for local small businesses to grow and compete. What I'll Do:<ul><li>Protect and stabilize&nbsp;local healthcare providers&nbsp;so residents do not have to travel hours for basic care</li><li>Improve access to healthcare for&nbsp;seniors and aging populations, especially in rural towns</li><li>Expand&nbsp;mental health services&nbsp;and reduce wait times for care</li><li>Support nursing homes and community facilities under financial strain so families are not forced to leave their communities</li><li>Keep healthcare decisions focused on patient access and local needs, not distant systems</li><li>Support increased healthcare acess to Veterans</li></ul>

Healthcare access is an ongoing issue, particularly for older adults in rural parts of the district. Statewide patterns show nursing homes and rural health facilities under strain, and many locals want stronger Medicaid support, better reimbursements so facilities stay open, and more services for aging residents without forcing them to travel far from home.&nbsp;

What i'll do:<ul><li>Address rising&nbsp;property taxes&nbsp;that are pricing seniors and long-time residents out of homes they have lived in for decades</li><li>Push back on&nbsp;unfunded state mandates&nbsp;that drive up local taxes in towns, villages, and school districts</li><li>Focus state spending on essentials like classrooms, roads, and public safety instead of bureaucracy</li><li>Provide targeted relief for&nbsp;working families and fixed-income seniors&nbsp;struggling with utilities, heating costs, childcare, and transportation</li><li>Make affordability a statewide priority so rural and suburban communities are not left carrying the burden alone</li><li>Explore a technology park/innovation hub to attract high-quality, tech-based jobs.</li><li>Negotiate with stakeholders for a full service grocery store in rural areas</li><li>Aggressively advocate for funding to District 130 such as, Empire Economic development, rural revitalization, Restore NY, and others that our communities could benefit from</li><li>Establish an economic development sub-committee with town representatives, Chamber of Commerce and the County economic developer.</li></ul>

Many in the district are struggling with rising costs for everyday necessities including groceries, energy, housing, childcare and transportation. People want lawmakers to pursue real economic relief, lower property taxes, reduce unnecessary fees and curb inflationary pressures so families have more breathing room financially. Many have publicly emphasized the need for immediate affordability solutions.&nbsp;
